About the Artist
JK is an artist of many mediums, though he professes to be mainly a photographer.
After growing up in a small town in upstate New York he chose the life of a vagabond, a nomad, a wandering student.
He has floated through the continental U.S for sixteen years, finding inspiration, beauty, and sometimes epiphany in the wider world, though he always enjoys finding himself back in the Twilight Zone.
JK blends common imagery with modern technology to create something that is, in many ways, more like a painting than a photograph.
Seeking a balance of form and meaning, logic and passion, he is usually to be found at his computer late into the night making minute adjustments to an image, tweaking it until its perfect.
Artist’s statement
The simple, everyday things around us, when viewed at a different slant, are beautiful.
If we could see a few seconds all at once, or focus on just this one spot so deeply that the rest of the subject ceases to be, we could see it properly.
I am fascinated by details, by the beautiful bits often overlooked in the increasingly homogenized “big picture.”
