Kathleen Yonkin

Artist Bio:
Kathleen Yonkin is an artist that was born in the state of Pennsylvania where she was taught and began her development of skills as an artist. She now lives in Johnson City where she still works on developing her skills and techniques as an artist by the people that she meets and ones she seeks out to learn from.

Artist Statement:
Linocuts are the process where I used the traditional battleship gray linoleum and various carving techniques to create the designs and patterns that were then block printed onto the paper. I took inspiration for the designs from what I observed in nature and from what the blank linoleum told me what it was going to be. The creation of this collection was something that I had been working on over the last few years, and had been one of the most rewarding and demanding works that I have created. I have greatly enjoyed each step of making these prints, with my favorite part being what the print would be like after printing it, as each one takes on a life of its own and no two prints of the same cut would be the same. I hope you enjoy this collection as much as I have enjoyed making them.
