BUILDING ON THEIR 2018 SUCCESS with “Arsenic and Old Lace,” two Broome County arts organizations interested in the Victorian era are continuing their cooperative efforts this spring with Oscar Wilde’s classic farce “The Importance of Being Earnest, A Trivial Comedy for Serious People.” The production will serve as a fund-raiser for both the Summer Savoyards and the Bundy Museum of History & Art. The Savoyards, who are best known for presenting Gilbert & Sullivan operettas every summer, will be providing the stage know-how for the production; the museum will be providing the actual stage.

In “The Importance of Being Earnest,” two young gentlemen living in 1890s England – Jack and Algernon -- use the same pseudonym ("Ernest") on the sly, which is fine until they both fall in love while using that name. That leads to a comedy of mistaken identities.

The Summer Savoyards will preform Oscar Wilde’s classic farce “The Importance of Being Earnest” at The Bundy Museum Annex on:

Snacks and beverages, including beer, wine and a signature cocktail, will be available for purchase. The Savoyards and the Bundy will share the net profits from ticket sales. Proceeds
from the concessions and a gift basket raffle will benefit the Savoyards’ July 26-28 production of G&S’s “The Yeomen of the Guard.”
