Artist Statement:

Art... is a true expression that comes from that beautiful inner place where the only true expression of ones-self exists. Being an artist allows us to meet and love ourselves on a level that is uniquely personal to ourselves and to share a bit of our divine soul with the world; to share our love and our vision through our unique creative expression.

Artist Bio - Rebecca Whitman:

Rebecca is a self taught artist and photographer. Since she was old enough to pick up a crayon and a sheet of paper she has been creating. Always evolving her creative expression and growing her passion through life. No medium is off limits and the versatility of creative means has always kept her excited and growing in her dream to master all forms of art. She uses art as a means to help others by teaching art to the community at her local art studio, Stilettos Fine Arts Studio, in Binghamton, NY.... and developing programs that are community based to work with children and all members of the community. She is a firm believer that art is something that all people can do and it can create bridges that lets you travel to worlds that once were thought to exist only in dreams. "Art allows me to discover myself... it is no longer something I do... it has become a part of me. It has shown me who I truly am and allowed the creative genius to shine through. Every day I take a personal journey into my soul whether I am holding a paintbrush, a pencil, or a camera. The means have never mattered to me.... only the act of creating. Art has allowed me to connect with the universe and has taught me the healing powers of creativity.... both for myself and for all my students and all in the world who choose to discover their inner artist." Rebecca's art has become a personal journey of expression and she has prints selling around the country and the world and plans to continue to grow and create and express forever and enjoy the beautiful journey it takes her on... both in the world and inside her soul.

Artist Bio - Stephen Whitman:

Stephen started his art career in 2016 when he met his future wife Rebecca. He, upon her invitation, attended an art class that she was teaching. Little did he know at that time where that art class would lead. He dedicated himself for over a year's time to art; first as an intern of Rebecca’s and her student learning how to become an artist and a teacher in the community. Teaching himself the fascinating art of spray paint creation and recently has moved on to combining all that he has learned and has been creating beautiful murals for the world to enjoy. He has an inner drive and passion to learn, not letting anyone or anything get in his way of expressing the true genius of his soul. Stephen has used art to create pieces that just touch the heart of the viewer drawing on his past experiences in life and he has exclaimed many times that art saved his life. Those are pretty powerful words but are a true expression as to the power of art for the individual.

The Whitmans Create.... Together.....

Both artists in their own right have beautiful pieces and styles but as a husband and wife team they enjoy creating pieces together at times also. And sometimes they even invite other artists to join them. It's a true expression of the artist's soul to set ego aside and create a piece with another artist. Together they have created and worked together on approximately 18-20 art pieces as husband and wife and have grown as artists and in their marriage as a result. "We teach together.... create together.... and live together. It is an interesting combination and one that requires balance. It is one that has helped us discover so much about ourselves and become better people for ourselves and our family. We are so grateful for this creative magic carpet ride we have taken together."
