About NOX Images:
Nox Images creates fantastical worlds with a fetish flair utilizing digital photography. Through the incorporation of pagan undertones, grimly abandoned buildings dotting the coast, and borderline cinematic characterizations, Nox Images specializes in a sensual darkness that embraces oddity and celebrates the female form.
Nox Images is an internationally published duo who has exhibited at galleries throughout Long Island. Their work can also be found in custom pieces done in partnership with furniture designer Sinclair Chic.
Artists Biographies:
Iris French is a Long Island expat who is a self taught artist and has been photographing since she was seventeen. She majored in History at Binghamton University & has a Masters in Education, both of which continue to serve her in her photography journey. Her vast knowledge of various mythological elements are often seen in the undertones of her shoots, while an education background aids her in guiding models to achieve otherworldly poses.
Mike Seman is a Binghamton native whose fascination with history & art has been the backbone behind a multitude of Nox Image’s best shots. His quickness with crafting and experience in Boy Scouts are essential pieces that bring Iris’ imagination into reality. Mike devotes himself fully to achieving the perfect shot, often ending up in precarious positions to achieve the ultimate lighting and prop effects.
Artistic statement:
As you walk along these walls, you’ll encounter the evolution of my imaginary friends. Every medium I have tried has always failed to do justice for my imagination, until I got behind the lens of a camera. Each creature or vixen, whether tantalizing or terrifying, is a part of me that I’ve wanted to become, or release. As a whole, the exhibition is a celebration of the creatures who have kept me company throughout my life.
The exhibition has no cohesive theme but explores the elements that make up what Nox Images is known for - fetish, fantasy & horror. Each image reads less like a stagnant piece and more like a still from a literary scene, as if you happened upon the creature mid-story. Beyond being cinematic, Nox focuses on embracing raw sexuality in a way that’s celebratory of the female form. Whether doused in glitter or blood, Nox Images is sexuality seen through the female gaze. At its heart, it’s both erotica and camp that’s meant to be a worship of women in their most fantastical or fearsome forms.
