About the Artist:
I am a native of the Czech Republic. Ever since I was a little boy, I have pursued visual arts. I received no significant formal art education besides semi-private lessons from an established artist. I spent a few hours a week in his studio at an art school as a teenager for several months. I never liked it. I went into medicine and have been a practicing surgeon for 22 years. I had paintings exhibited at two shows in Syracuse, N.Y., within the last several years. The reason I create images is that I enjoy them. Why? I am not sure. It is just feeling good. Do they come out the way I imagine? Frequently I find them incomplete and imperfect, but I tend to give up and resort to the Wabi-sabi school of thought- the beauty of imperfection. There are stories behind all of them. I would prefer you to form your conclusion about their colors and impressions without telling you what I had in mind.
I have used drawing and painting to add to the more significant meaning of my life. I feel it is up to each of us to create some sense for our unique existence in this Universe. I was fortunate enough to inherit this great gift of being able to express myself in this form and participate in the invisible relay of the known and unknown artsy folks of the past and the future.
To put it all into proper perspective and conclude my brief introduction, I would like to quote Woody Allen: "I don't want to achieve immortality through my work; I want to achieve immortality through not dying. I don't want to live on in the hearts of my countrymen; I want to live on in my apartment."
